'Westeros Map' is available on App Store

We are now available on App Store! The app is designed for cool look on both iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. Westeros and western Essos are available for FREE, while remaining Essos, Sothoryos, Summer Isles, and Ibben can be acquired via In App Purchase. Supported languages: English, Spanish, Russian, German, French, Portuguese, Polish, Croatian and Dutch.

Map contains:
• Both North and South of Seven Kingdoms.
• Essos with Free Cities, Valyria, Slaver's Bay, Dothraki Sea, Qarth and other places(in full version)
• Summer Isles, Ibben and northern part of rarely explored Sothoryos(in full version)
• Highly detailed map of King's Landing(available for separate purchase)

You are able to search by location's name to quickly look where is it in that great "A Song of Ice and Fire" world. This can be very helpful when reading the book or watching the series if you need recall about some place from George R. R. Martin's books. You also can open the locations list('book' button in top-left corner) and select specific location from there(from version 1.1.0).

There are more than 250 locations in the database available and we are looking to add even more with updates.

NOTE: You can purchase full map only once and have it on all your Apple devices which use the same Apple ID. Even if app asks "Do you want to buy 'Essos Map'?" you'll never be charged twice - app will then let you know that 'Essos Map' already was purchased.

  1. Thanks for this, I'm one of those people that needs to follow a visual map.

I did have one question/suggestion: how about a way to track the movements of characters as you progress through the books? Is there any way to reference your location from iBooks if reading on an iPad? Would it be possible to visually move characters based on that progression?

    1. I don't think Apple allows access to iBooks user data from another program - there is possibility to harm user's privacy. Your suggestion can definitely by implemented technically with ability to check ASOIAF book -> chapter from inside the "Westeros Map" app. I'd think how it can be effectively integrated into the UI, thanks for suggestion!

  2. What about a book/chapter reference interface? The user selects the book/chapter they are reading and the map zooms to that location. It could also show where the other characters in that book are at that moment in time.

    1. I'd place it in the TODO for future releases, but for now we are focused on map expansion and improvement of current search abilities. Thanks for the good suggestion!

  3. Hello! Excellent work.
One question: why the Westeros + Essos Map for Android is free and for Iphone is 1,59 Euro?
Anyway, thanks for the hard work!

    1. There are many people who has both Android and iOS devices and I just didn't want them to pay twice for the same app. Also, Android version is kind of test ground for the new features(and bugs! :) while iPhone/iPad is much more stable(and nice, especially on iPad)

  4. Hi, Great map guys. It really helps as I read through the books.
Unfortunetly since the last update it freezes when you highlight a river.
If I select a river from the list, the river is shown and highlighted but the list doesn't close and the app has froze.
I'm running this on an iPhone 4 with OS 4.2.1.
Also, it might be nice if you showed some kind of spash screen while it loads as I see a black screen for more than 10 seconds and at first thought it wasn't working.

    1. Hi, thanks for letting me know about the freeze. Does it happen always when you try to highlight the river?

And thanks for the splash screen suggestion. Hopefully, we'll add it in the next update.

      Regards,
      Sergey

    2. Yes it doesn't matter which river I select it freezes. The river does get highlighted and flash but everything else has froze. It happens everytime as well. Also doesn't matter if you select if via the list or the search bar. I'll try to update to OS 5 at some point, maybe that will help.
      Thanks.

  5. Hello, very nice app!
I have a question: how do I restore the purchased full map if needed?

    1. Hi, your purchase is linked to your Apple ID, so you aren't forced to buy full map twice - you'll be informed that "Essos Map" already was purchased after tapping "Buy"

  6. In my opinion the red wastes part is wrong. From Vaes Dothrak Daeneris walked to the west to Vaes Tolorro. From there it traveled south-west to Quarth. In your map they are all on the same vertical line while they should be more west.

    1. I admit our map isn't 100% precious: we tried to minimize empty unused space to optimize memory consumption for mobile devices.

    2. Thanks! How do I do this? I purchased kings landing using the magnifying glass, but there is no magnifying glass over Pentos or the East?

    3. You can zoom out with pinch gesture and 'Buy Essos map' button will appear on max zoom distance. Also, you can try to search some location from Essos(Astapor, Meereen, Vaes Dothrak etc.) and app will propose you to buy full world map then.
